Hi, I am a Dad to two special children - they are 5 and 4. My 4 year old is special needs. We have been to many specialists and the only diagnosis so far is Ataxic CP. Other than that, no "specialist" is able to tell us anything. Yes, we know she has Ataxia and Hypatonia, but no one knows the causes or what to do about it. We keep trucking along and doing what all good parents do - we take care of our kids.

Glad to be part of this great network, group and site.

Hi, I am the mother five adopted children with special needs (25, 21, 20, 12, 11) as well as four birth children(13, 9, 6, 2) 6 kids live at home. Disabilities we deal with are autism x 2, Down Syndrome, FAS, and brain trauma as well as attachment disorder in 3 kids. I grew up with a brother who had severe physical disabilities and am married to a husband with a chronic medical condition causing him to be disabled. Someone laughed at me recently because I told them thaty disability wasn't really a problem for us - we just consider it a part of our cultural heritage, like being Italian :)

So what is the thing you most want to connect with other parents on?

Besides running a ministry for parents of kids with special needs, I am the mother of a 9 year old boy with severe hemophilia A and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. I also have a 7 year old daughter with severe allergies, sensory issues and ADHD. Their 13 year old sister claims to be "the only normal one in the family". Hilarious!

Hello, I am a mother of three children with special needs, my 3 and 6 year old boys are autistic and my 10 yr old daughter is ADHD. My husband also has ADHD so everyday is an adventure. We take the bad with the good and keep chugging away. Wouldn't change it for the world. (today is a good day... lol)

Hi I am mum to a son with Fragile X Syndrome - which includes intellectual disability and autism symptoms among other things. He is 19 now and life seems to be running smoothly for him apart from regular spells of anxiety which we are trying to find ways of dealing with.

My 4 year old daughter has a lot of skin allergies, including the UV sun rays, allergies to a few oral antibiotics and topical antibiotics, nothing with fragrances or dyes on her skin, plus she has lactose intolerance and has IBS. She was also born with Torticollis of the neck, we did PT and that got better. She was also born with a congenital vertical talus of the right foot, we did surgery on that at about 8 months old. Then she had casts and AFOs on her right leg, ankle, and foot for a few years. We just got the OK from the Dr. to stop wearing the AFO brace.
