dating /finding someone

hi,
i really feel the need to find someone who would care about me as much as my pets do and have someone who would accept me as i am.. i go either way but lately i just want to find a kind woman about my age with similar beliefs. i feel the ned to be held, to be comforted, not so much sexual but that would be alright. i like dark hair and dark eyes, feminine. girls that look like boys are a turnoff. but i am interested in men too. i prefer dark hair and dark eyes too. specifically for the guy b… Continue

i HATE the umbrella terminology

i always went to regular classes in a regular school. the principals fought my mom on this one. even though the standardized tests given every so often put my knowledge at college level by 5 th grade in spite of not having glasses and never having a hearing aid. people could not tell i had a hearing problem i had taught myself so well. nobody was going to say i was stupid. i did very well until my neck fusion. now its harder to hide especially since i dont have glasses either. i need to see bett… Continue

finally a diagnosis

hi,
i was born with lots of funny quirks. i was very small at birth 5lbs and full term. i have a facial malformation and one that was inherited from my grandmother. i have a hypoplastic thumb and ear. one whole side of my body is different than the other. i also had hydrocephalus and a slightly shortened neck. i did not thrive. the docs went through all kinds of diagnoses. the first doc i had told mom i should be put away and she should have another baby. then one said i would be a dwarf, they s… Continue

concerned over this wave towards socialized medicine

hi,
i was worried about this issue for a long time. it isnt all the care for all the people. it is rationed. and we would be getting less, not more. at least now i can go to the ONE doc i need. the govt already is rationing things right under our noses and we are letting them. i cant get stronger meds for my constant pain. its now only for cancer patients. what about those like me or those with fibromyalgia?? my meds helps me to be able to get out of the house for awhile. i dont want to end up b… Continue

Hello Laura how are you today? Sorry to hear about your problems with your brother. Unfortunately sometimes family can be a bit overbearing especially if you have any kind of chronic illness or disability people seem to always think they know better than you at that doing it their way is best for you. I also find that very frustrating as a person with a disability. Well, have a wonderful week and let me know if there's anything I can do for you.

Sincerely,
Rudy Sims

I know what you mean Laura, I too have a wheelchair, and ma concerned for my life, or rather the life I have always known. But more than that I am scared for my kids, grandkids and hopefully in the future (if they dont put birth control in the food) my great grandkids.

Laura, i am so sorry about the way you were treated on the bus. When I looked for help from the ADA I found this on the website for your state;
Due to budget constraints, the Arizona Office for Americans with Disabilities closed effective June 30, 2009. For general information regarding the Americans with Disabilities Act, please visit the federal website at www.ada.gov
You may want to call 2-1-1 to get local social or United Way services to help you. Most large American cities have 2-1-1 service. If I were you (looked fairly normal but would be in trouble if you fell or someone pushed you), in addition to the helper dog I would get a cane. A cane would be sure to alert people that you have some kind of handicap - even if you don't really need the cane for walking, it might help you keep your balance better. This is just a suggestion and it doesn't mean (I have found) that there won't still be crude, uneducated people who won't give you a seat or be nice to you. Just remember, even tho we know we're disabled and sometimes feel like aliens from Mars, to strangers we look like normal people.
