I am a 60-year-old gay man. I live in Montreal Canada with my partner Arnold. We've been together for 26 years, and now that same-sex marriage is legal in Canada, we have planned our "official" wedding for August 30th 2008.
I suffer from avascularnecrosis, also known as osteonecrosis, that was caused as a side-effect from prednisone I was taking for Crohn's Disease. I have had both my hips and knees replaced, but due to complications, I had to have one of my hips and one of my knees redone, which led to a lot of muscle and nerve damage, causing me to need a wheelchair for mobility. Now, the disease has struck both of my shoulders, and we are in the process of deciding whether to face the risks of additional replacement surgery.
I am looking forward to meeting other people who understand the situation in which I find myself.
