I have had cerebral palsy since birth. It is due to a deprivation of oxygen during the birthing process. The umbilical cord was pinched. The resulting lack of oxygen caused damage to the motor control portion of my brain. I use a manual wheelchair to get around. I don't speak clearly (a motor control). It usually takes a day or two for someone new to understand my cerebral palsy speech “accent.” I have a partial hearing loss (I wear two hearing aids). I'm not able to use my hands for fine motor control. However, I have fine motor control of my right foot. Therefore, while sitting in my wheelchair, I use my right foot to operate my Macintosh computer using a trackball on the floor. Also, I type on the keyboard with a head-stylus (head pointer).
In 1992, I graduated from the University of North Florida with honors in Fine Arts with a track in computer graphics. I have a complete up-to-date graphic/web design studio. The name of my company is Graphics Afoot Studio Design. One of my specialties is doing job outsourcing for local, national and international companies who need help with their overflow graphics and multimedia jobs. A few of the companies that I have done work for are AT&T, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Chase Banks/Home Finance, APL Logistics, Vexure Logistics, Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce, etc. I, also, do work for individuals. I conduct much of my work via email, instant messaging, telephone, fax and courier.
